No man (or woman) will ever truly know that he has succeeded until he experiences an apparent failure.

The purpose of creating this website is to instill public awareness on a broader spectrum in hopes of gaining understanding and support from my readers because mental illness is not selective. Its victims could be someone like you or me; a student, child, star athlete, black or white.

Mental illness is a disease that does more than affect the brain. It alienates you from your peers, your family and those who do not understand you. You may feel you have been abandoned outside the gates of the city and fall through the cracks of society; wandering aimlessly through life. You may see them standing around on street corners talking to themselves, eating out of garbage dumpsters, sleeping in alleyways and under bridges. A lot end up in jail for various misdemeanor charges such as stealing food.

I hope to convey to you what I am doing at the Rose Garden and what I want to accomplish for this special class of human beings. In keeping the public informed,  I hope to alleviate some misconceptions of what the Rose Garden really stands for.

Sincerely,

Sherri Slaton,
Executive Director
