Donations
for the sons of a Temple police officer recently killed were stolen
from a restaurant early Tuesday morning.
The
owners of Dibz Restaurant in downtown Temple were raising money for
the children of Officer David Camden who died in a motorcycle
accident earlier this month. Dibz is just one block south of the
police department.
Its
a place Officer Camden often ate at and officers are taking this
burglary personal.
The
owners of Dibz got a call from the police department a little after
5:00 in the morning, telling them their business had been broken into.
"The
owner arrived and made a kind of disturbing discovery and found that
the only thing that he could find missing from the restaurant was the
cash donation buckets that he had placed at the front of the business
for our fallen officer, Officer David Camden," Sergeant Brad
Hunt with the Temple Police Department said.
Temple
residents and business owners said they're disgusted by the callous
burglary. "He was a good man. He was a good officer and we all
are still grieving him. And we just buried him and now someone is
robbing his children," Temple resident Sherri Slaton said.
The
owners of Dibz have already put out another jar for officer Camden's
children, to finish the good deed that they started.
"We're
going to do this as long as we can, as long as they need it because
we're not ever gonna stop supporting Officer Camden, his children,
the family and the Temple Police Department," Dibz Restaurant
owner Dennis Hobizal said.
Temple
P.D. does have several leads and a suspect.
"Its
personal with us because it was for one of our officer's families,
but it was also charity. You know, and we take that very seriously.
Its
definitely going to be a high priority for us to try and find and
solve this crime," Hunt added.
The
owners of Dibz are planning to remove the new donation jar every
night and people interested in donating to the family can also mail
donations to the Officer David Camden Memorial Fund at Extraco Bank.
NOTE:
Please give to this worthy cause and help the children of Officer
David Camden.
